The Locations page stores reusable destination records for excursion planning. You can maintain parent/child location relationships, capture a structured address, and review which excursions reference a location.

What this screen is for

  • Create and edit workspace locations.
  • Keep addresses and coordinates consistent using address search.
  • See which excursions currently reference a saved location.

What you can see

  • Page title Locations with the subtitle Create and maintain reusable destination records for excursion planning.
  • An Import button that navigates to the import workflow.
  • A New Location button.
  • A table with columns for Name, Parent, Address, Updated, and Description.
  • Toolbar text filters for name, parent, and address, plus column visibility controls.
  • Row actions with Edit location.
  • A location panel titled Create Location or Edit Location depending on context.

Common actions

Create a location

Choose New Location to open the panel, complete the Details tab, then choose Create location.

Edit a location

Choose Edit location from the row menu, or click the row when editing is allowed.

Review linked excursions

Open the Excursions tab on an existing location to see a list of linked excursions. Selecting a name opens that excursion. If the location is not saved yet, the tab explains you must save first.

Location details tab fields

  • Parent location optional selector, including No parent location
  • Location name (required)
  • Address required search field using Mapbox search, then saving the selected result and coordinates
  • Latitude and Longitude optional manual fields
  • Map Preview when coordinates and saved address metadata are available
  • Description optional notes such as arrival instructions or meeting points

Empty, loading, and error states

  • If locations cannot load, you see Failed to load locations with a message.
  • If there are no locations, you see No locations yet.
  • If filters hide all rows, you see No locations match the current filters.
  • The excursions tab can show loading, error, empty, or a list state with clear copy for each.

Permissions and read-only behaviour

New Location, row click editing, the edit menu item, and saving are disabled when you cannot manage locations.

Tips

  • Use parent locations when you want a hierarchy such as campus and building.
  • Pick the address from search results so coordinates and previews stay aligned.
  • Review linked excursions before changing an address that families may already rely on.
